The Gorilla Doctors
Saving a Species One Gorilla At a Time
Saving a species
Gorilla Doctors is the only organization on the planet providing life-saving veterinary care to wild eastern gorillas.
With your support, treating one gorilla at a time has contributed to one of the greatest wildlife conservation success stories in the last century.
Over the last five years and counting
Health checks to monitor the health of mountain and Grauer’s gorillas
Clinical interventions to treat ill or injured mountain and Grauer’s gorillas
Snare rescues with a 100% survival rate
Our Patients are Wild
Every single day, rain or shine, we monitor the health of the nearly 800 human-habituated mountain and Grauer’s gorillas living in five national parks across Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
While mountain gorilla numbers are increasing, Grauer’s gorillas are critically endangered. Existing threats to our patients have intensified and novel threats are emerging.
Mission
To conserve wild eastern gorillas through life-saving veterinary medicine and science using a One Health approach.
Vision
A world with a thriving population of wild eastern gorillas.
